Peire Vidal (c. 1183 – c. 1204), along with Raimbaut de Vaqueiras, visited the court of Bonifacio de Monferrato in the late twelfth century. He dedicated some of his poetry to Beatrice, the daughter of Bonifacio, during his stay. Peire travelled to the East along with Bonifacio, who was hoping to become Emperor of the Latin Empire of Constantinople. Peire composed his last works in the years around 1205 to 1206 while in Malta as a part of Bonifacio’s entourage.
